Hampshire Young Farmers – Sports Kit Sponsorship

Crawfords are the proud sponsors of the Hampshire Young Farmers’ sports kit.

Crawfords have always had a strong connection to Young Farmers clubs and counties and always try to support them where possible. Hampshire young farmers found success at the National sports finals on Saturday 2nd October in Staffordshire. The HYFC Teams were competing against fellow young farmers from all over the country.

With Teams qualified for the women’s netball, men’s football and men’s tug of war at the county and regional level, Hampshire Young Farmers were heading off to NFYFC (National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs) competitions! Standards were high but the teams looked very smart in their new sports kit and had the capability of bringing home the goods!

Footballers Harry Dunford, Hamish Douglas, Simon Tickner, Matt Portnall, Alex Portnall, Jack Emery and Phil Kendall played some excellent football going through the group stages undefeated. Cornwall YFC was over-powered in the semi-finals with some spectacular penalties, but unfortunately, Hampshire was beaten by Cumbria to place second overall, an extremely impressive result nonetheless!

The women’s netball boasted an extremely high standard of play. A team of Charlotte Tickner, Anna Dunford, Abbie Hoff, Megan Walker, Sophie Tickner, Becca Bird, Charlotte Kennedy, Bridget Hichens and Bridget McClure competed, with some brilliant play and exemplary shooting. The women fought hard and won against teams from Montgomery and Cumbria, narrowly losing to Bedfordshire with just one goals difference in a high scoring game and agonisingly lost out on a semi-final position to Cornwall.

The men’s tug of war team consisting of Simon Tickner, Max Goodall, Andrew Knight, Jack Carpenter, Will Norgate, Ben Chapman, Matt Portnall, Joe Johnson and Hamish Douglas started well, determinedly winning an end against Cornwall, the team came up against the tough competition and were knocked out by Devon, who finished second overall.

Hampshire Young Farmers have clubs from Alresford, Stockbridge, South East Hants, Romsey, Petersfield, Winchester, Avon Valley, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst. They run meetings, sports, activities, tours and parties regularly, so get involved! Check out their website here

“It’s great to support local Young Farmers Clubs, they have so much to offer to the next generation in the rural community. Many of the Crawfords team have gained so much from their time as YFC members” Says Southern Area Sales & Operations Manager, Alan Haines.
